Louisiana Work Comp: Quick Facts
Louisiana is a work comp mandatory state, meaning that employers are required to carry workman’s comp insurance, or else they will be fined by the state authorities. Like most states, their state fund rates are typically not as competitive as the rates from private companies within the state. This is because LWCC is required to provide workers compensation for all employers, regardless of their claim history. This results in the state fund having more expensive losses, which are then passed on to the insured.
